The week includes regional premieres of “Five Freedom Songs,” “Records from a Vanishing City,” and more. Jessie will lead masterclasses, rehearsals, and perform her “Rhapsody No. 1” and “Musings”!
Conductor Jakub Hrůša leads the NY Phil in Jessie’s anticipated new work, part of “Project 19,” a multi-season initiative to commission and premiere 19 new works by 19 women composers
Jessie will lead rehearsals, seminars, and lectures, and her pieces will be performed by the Synergy Virtuosi, JMU Symphony Orchestra, and JMU Percussion Ensemble
Jessie’s anthem for the 21st century and music by Carlos Simon and Aaron Copland come together as a “rousing collection of songs and stories that celebrate and challenge the American narrative”
With Jessie Montgomery’s mentorship, selected composers will workshop new chamber pieces, culminating in a performance by musicians of the Civic Orchestra on May 23, 2025
